We are a very big family starting a very small farm in the Gaspereau Valley of Nova Scotia.

We really aren't a good "crate" family
I can't imagine tellling this little boy that his dog has to sleep on the floor, let alone downstairs in a crate!

Handmade Holidays Recap #1 - Lyra's winter gear
Nature Girl loves the Golden Compass and wanted to be able to dress up like Lyra when she plays.
I made her the hat and mitts.
Found the coat at the thrift store Frenchy's. The boots are mine but she fits them so I gave them to her.
I wasn't able to find her a polar bear so she's off to hunt herself up one.

Happy New Year!
My commitment this year is to be more mindful about our family meals. I'm hoping to get back into blogging by making that a focus of the family blog too. I figure the subject encompasses all sorts of things that "feed" that issue, our first season of gardening, livestock, blessings, recipes, eating locally, and the rituals and rhythm of the family meal.
So here you go, pictures of the Sprout preparing veggies for roasting.
3 year olds are probably the greatest kitchen helpers ever...even if they do spill enough flour for a second cake when you bake!
